Erroneous edits to Oriental beetle article[edit]

Hi. I know you're well-intentioned, but your recent edits run directly contrary to the presently-recognized taxonomy of this beetle; the genus "Exomala" is now considered to be a synonym of the genus Anomala, and not a valid genus. 2003 was a long time ago, and things have changed. Your edits also had many bits of badly formatted text, such as putting things in italics that must never be italicized. While Wikipedia encourages editors to be bold, it also is important to know how to edit before starting to edit, as well as knowing that the information you are adding is accurate and up-to-date. Please, if you feel a need to edit the article, make small edits that are correctly sourced and formatted, and can be more easily proofread if they need to be corrected. Thanks. I have no view on whether Exomala is a synonym of Anomala or not, but I am always willing to accept Dyanega's expertise in taxonomy. I have tried to clean up the issues you created concerning the taxonomy templates. The automated taxobox system is complex, and changes to taxonomy templates need to be made with great care. Never move them or redirect them – this messes up any articles that use the taxonomy template. (There is a way to combine taxonomy templates via |same_as=, but this should only ever be used when it's clear that it won't affect the taxoboxes of any existing articles.)
If you have any queries about how to use the automated taxobox system, I'm always happy to try to help if you leave a note on my talk page. Peter coxhead (talk) 11:32, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have reviewed your DYK submission for Chrysochus cobaltinus. I have flagged a number of issues with your nomination and have attempted to contact you multiple times regarding the issue. I understand that you're new to Wikipedia and mean well, but I will be failing the nomination within the next few days if there are no steps taken towards resolving this nom. This has been sitting for over a month now and needs to get moved along. Please WP:ping me, send me a talk page message, or comment on the DYK template if you have questions or concerns (I am not subscribed to this message chain so I might not see any responses you make here). 🏵️Etrius ( Us) 19:32, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
